Located in the historic 1899 courthouse, the Rowan County Arts Center brings together and showcases the community’s diverse talents. Established in 2003 with the support of local organizations and a grant from the Lucille Caudill Little Foundation, the Arts Center provides a dedicated space for arts education, appreciation, and performance. The restored courthouse features galleries, studios, and performance spaces, offering a comprehensive arts experience for all ages.

At the Rowan County Arts Center, we offer year-round exhibitions, classes, workshops, performances, literary programs, and youth opportunities designed to engage, educate, and inspire. From visual and performing arts to writing and traditional music, our programs reflect both the creative spirit of our region and the diverse voices of our community.

As a cultural hub for eastern Kentucky, the Arts Center serves as a gathering place for artists, students, educators, and audiences. Through partnerships with schools, community organizations, and regional arts groups, we work to expand access to the arts and support creative growth throughout Rowan County and beyond.

Our Mission

The Rowan County Arts Center celebrates the rich traditions of our past while embracing the creativity of the present. We foster a vibrant space where modern and traditional arts connect, offering diverse programs, classes, and experiences that inspire learning, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Through community partnerships and inclusive opportunities, we strive to honor our heritage, support our artists, and cultivate a lasting creative legacy for generations to come.

With Support From

The Rowan County Arts Center operates in partnership with Rowan County and Morehead–Rowan County Tourism, with support from regional and national arts organizations.
